language brings people together

That’s my impetus and my motivation to teach German

My roots

I was born and grew up in Leipzig, in the former GDR. I had a very happy childhood, but shaped by socialism. With the fall of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of Germany, my life changed like that of many others. New possibilities and freedoms opened up. After graduating from high school, I moved to western Germany and first completed a degree in applied physical geography in Trier, then worked in various areas such as environmental consulting and public relations and discovered my passion for teaching in 2011.

My workexperience

In 2011 I completed my training as a teacher of German as a foreign language at the Berlin language school ESL PROLOG and acquired a “Eurolta Certificate” and an “International House Certificate for teaching German as a foreign language”. I then began to gain experience at language schools in Germany and then taught German at a renowned language school in Spain for many years. I have been working as a freelance online language teacher since 2020.

My method

Stay abroad

When I was studying geography, a major excursion to Canada awakened my travel fever. After that I undertook many trips, including to Spain, Bulgaria, Turkey, China and Thailand. But my 2-year stay in Australia and New Zealand had a big impact on me. I was able to broaden my horizons, develop my personality, had wonderful experiences and met many interesting people and most importantly: I understood the importance of communication and language. That was also the impetus for me to become a language teacher and to teach other people my mother tongue.

Languages

Ever since I was little, I have had a keen sense of language. I always had top marks in German and it was very easy for me to understand spelling and grammar. My first foreign language was Russian, which I learned for many years. English followed, which was easy for me and which I perfected during my stay in Australia. I have been living in Spain since 2014 and have therefore also acquired this language up to a communication level. I enjoy learning and understanding languages, immersing myself in the culture and discovering the peculiarities of people and language. I would also like to convey this to my learners from my mother tongue.

Hobbys and interests

I am very close to nature. I have always had a good connection to nature, admire and respect it and also try everything to protect it. I love animals, especially marine mammals. I regularly take boat trips to see whales and dolphins in their natural habitat. I also had the opportunity to volunteer at a dolphin research institute and observe them in the ocean and learn about their behaviour. Photography is also my passion, whereby surely nature and landscape shots are my focus. I spend a lot of time outside, go hiking, go for walks on the beach or trips to the mountains.
